Exhibitions – there are so many to attend nowadays. Our industry (Health and Safety) has exhibitions that take place throughout the year.

We’ve been at the Safety and Health Expo this week, at the London Excel. We really enjoy exhibitions, and feel that we really benefit from them.

But, the question remains:

Do you need to attend exhibitions?

Is your business attracting new customers? Is your advertising and word of mouth efficient enough for gaining new customers and sales leads? Perhaps you feel that you don’t need to attend conferences, trade shows and exhibitions?

Exhibitions – and exhibiting – isn’t easy, but can be very rewarding. Exhibitors can receive great exposure. They can use the trade show to showcase their products to potential buyers and new customers.

From awareness of your brand, to credibility of your products, showcasing at an exhibition can have many benefits for your business. Whether your stand is large or small, having a presence among your competitors and target customers can have an impressive effect on sales.

So what to do? Here are the top five reasons to attend exhibitions:

  1. Exposure to potential new customers

A well-thought out strategy at your chosen exhibitions can draw the attention of new targeted customers, and also existing customers. Build stronger business relationships with existing customers by demonstrating new products and services, and create a clear picture of your business for potential customers.

  1. Face- to-face interaction

Most tend to react well to face-to-face contact. They prefer this than communication via email or phone. Use the opportunity to show you’re approachable as a business partner and seller. Direct contact with existing and potential new customers can help to let you know their views on your products – and to gain some feedback. Use the exhibitions to get a better understanding of your product/service.

  1. Brand awareness

Every company should have a good brand identity. When you have set up your stand at the exhibition, establish your brand image and it’ll enable you to create a good impression on a large audience, and new customers. Demonstrate your products, showcase you services and measure the interactions – keep a log of reactions.

  1. Learn more about your market

Use this as an opportunity to understand your market.  You can understand just what prospective customers think about your products and your business. This is easier to achieve when speaking one-to-one with others. Expos are perfect for this.

  1. Increase knowledge of competitors

Exhibitions aren’t just for approaching and identifying existing and prospective customers. It gives you a chance to identify competitors and compare their products to yours. This will give you an opportunity to determine which products and services they feel are relevant in the market at present. It’s the perfect teaching tool to improve YOUR service!
